Frequently asked

Lighting and Fan Installation Questions

Answers to the questions homeowners ask most before scheduling lighting or ceiling fan work.

Q1

What affects the cost of lighting and fan installation?

Cost depends on how many fixtures or fans are involved, whether we're running new wiring or working with what's already there, and how easy the ceiling access is. A single fixture swap is straightforward, while adding recessed lighting across a room or running new circuits for a fan takes more time. We can give you a clear price once we've seen your setup.

Q2

Can recessed lighting be added where there isn't any now?

Usually yes. Most ceilings can accept new recessed lighting, but how involved the job is depends on the ceiling openings needed and whether new wiring has to be run to reach them. We'll look at the space and tell you what's realistic for the room.

Q3

Can a ceiling fan replace an existing light fixture?

Often, yes, as long as the ceiling box is rated to support the weight and motion of a fan. Light fixture boxes aren't always built for that, so we check the box before swapping anything in and upgrade it if needed.

Q4

Do you install exterior and security lighting?

Yes, we install exterior and security lighting for entries, garages, and yards. That includes adding fixtures where there currently aren't any and replacing older outdoor lights that have worn out or no longer work well.

Q5

Can you replace an existing ceiling fan?

Yes. Replacing a ceiling fan involves removing the old unit, checking that the box and wiring are still in good shape, and connecting the new fan to your existing switches or controls.

Q6

Can you replace old fixtures with LED ones?

Yes, we swap old fixtures for LED fixtures or add new LED lighting as part of a project. We'll talk through fixture options with you, but we don't quote specific energy savings since that depends on your usage.
